Chronicle of the Catholic Church Choir of St.Andreas Klein-Winternheim
The church choir of St. Andreas is with the age of 35 years a young choir. He counted 26 members in the foundation year 1963. During the first 20 years, the choirleader Mr. Michael Schreiber
experienced with his organization the good things and the bad things.
After that, Mrs. Kremer took over the choir as choirleader for three years. Since 1987, Mr Juergen Heber accompanies the choir as choirmaster.
Chairman of the 31 active singers of the churchchoir is Mr Herbert Eckert, since February 2008. He is the "good soul", and acts behind the scene.
The active choir members consists of: 10 alto parts, 11 Sopran and 9 tenors. The repertory of the church choir is not only spiritual songs, fhurthermore modern and populare songs are most
favourable.
Every Thursday at 8:00 pm, the choir meets in the little Klein-Winternheimer-Radsport hall, for exercise.
There are special highlights every year, where the church choir is part of the whole village activities - like in this year on the people art days. The church choir looks after the physical
welfare of the guests, both, at the annual Carneval-Sunday and on the Christmas fair. The income of these two events covers the expenses of the church choir.
The choirs highlight are following days: Eastern, Whitsuntide, Corpus Christi, Lady Day, Grosses Gebet, Day of national mourning and Christmas.
Annually, there is a halfday and a daytime excursion, which is appreciated by all.
It should't remain unmentioned, that there is also an impressiv Advent celebration, where some choir members are part of the celebration. At this celebration, the members with a membership
between 25 and 30 years become honored too.
Friendly connections with the choirs of Gutenberg and and Daxweiler are granted by the choirleader Mr. Herber. Regular meetings and concerts are in place on a rotationary base.
Due to the 35 anniversary, the church choir took a ride to the Fichtelgebirge at the beginning of April 1998. Impressiv highlights were the visits of Alexanderbad, Karlsbad and Bayreuth.
Finaly should be mentioned, that there is a lack of young members in all church choirs since many years. This can be seen by the high average age of the members in our choir.
Therefore new members are welcome and gladly invited.
